Pre/K/First Mini Class
Tuesdays 9 and 10:30 a.m., Albany, $20/month
This mini-class works on shapes and colors, letters and numbers, reading, writing and math at four different levels. The teacher works with 2-3 students at a time (rotating through the groups) to demonstrate how to do the mini-lessons at home, provides suggested activities for the week, and answers questions about how to home school with children ages 2-7. The program is based on a modified Montessori approach and has been through 10 years of testing and development. It comes with an optional 100-page manual with instructions and printables to use at home.
Home School Cub Scouts Pack 7226
Fridays 2-3 p.m., Faith Lutheran Church, Albany
For boys in 1st-5th grade; since it's a homeschool pack, siblings are welcome and are included as possible. There is a Friday meeting most weeks, along with 1-2 field trips or events each year. The cub scouts can earn enough through two annual fundraisers to pay for all their fees, camps, books, and uniforms. Teaches good social and leadership skills in addition to practical and outdoor skills.
Summer Park Days
Wednesdays, 12-3 p.m., Albany & Corvallis
Bring your lunch, or show up at 1 p.m. so kids can play and parents can chat in a relaxed environment.

Sand volleyball court, bike/walk path, play equipment, large field, basketball court.
June 7
Millersburg Park, Millersburg Take Old Salem Road north, it runs parallel to I-5. Turn left on Alexander. Huge bike path, tennis, basketball, volleyball, covered picnic area, play structure. Bring bikes, scooters, and rollerblades!

Kinder Park, Albany (1326 Oak St, SE.) By Lowes. Playground and softball fields.
June 21
Timber Linn Park, Albany (900 Price Road SE, near Linn Co. Fairgrounds)
Many tables and large trees, play structure, disc golf course. Bring bikes, rollerblades, nice paths.
June 28
Bryant Park, Albany (801 Bryant Way SW)The park has a covered eating area, large grassy area, basketball, large play equipment area.
July 5
Gibson Hill Park, Albany (2880 Gibson Hill Road NW)
Sand volleyball court, bike/walk path, play equipment, large field, basketball court.
July 12
Adair Park, Adair Village Located off Highway 99W Scenic Route, across from Santiam Christian School. Drive through park to main parking lot towards the back. Baseball, tennis, sand volleyball, disc golf course, small children’s area, many tables and trees.
July 19

August 16
Wildcat Park, Corvallis (2701 NW Satinwood Street, Wilson School) Large play structure. There are also fields for soccer and hoops for basketball.
August 23
Timber Linn Park, Albany (900 Price Road SE) Many tables and large trees, play structure, disc golf course. Bring bikes, rollerblades, nice paths.
August 30
Bryant Park, Albany (801 Bryant Way SW) End of the summer party. Bring bag of candy to fill piñata. The piñata will be hit at 2:00. The park has a covered eating area, large grassy area, basketball, large play equipment area. Often, a last-minute curriculum sale occurs.
Gamers Meetup
Tuesdays 1-2 p.m., The Beanery, Albany
Kids of all ages meet up in real person to hang out and get to know each other. This is also the place to exchange information to meet up later to play Minecraft an other games online.
Classical Conversations
Mondays, Albany
YMCA Swim & Gym
Thursdays 2-4 p.m. $25/term, YMCA, Albany
The younger group (approximately age 5-11) does an hour of gym time first, followed by an hour of swim time. An instructor lead the gym time; parents sign up to help out 1-2 weeks each term with games and activities. During swim time, kids who can pass the swim test work with an instructor; the rest play or work on swim skills in the kiddie pool. Younger siblings are welcome to play along the edge of othe gym.
The older group (approximately 11-17) does an hour of swimming first, followed by an hour of gym time.
